Israeli Ambassador on a visit in Innsbruck
20 March 2025, Innsbruck, Tyrol
Israeli Ambassador to Austria, David Roet, in the Jewish religious community (IKG) in Innsbruck. He says that there are no innocent bystanders in Gaza and that Israel has never deliberately killed babies. The ambassador also says that he thinks it would be right to introduce the death penalty for children. For example, for a 16-year-old child carrying a gun or a 17-year-old child holding a grenade. He says that if Europe were to invest money in Gaza again, they would have to destroy it again. On a solution in Gaza, he speaks first of Trump, then of the intervention of world military powers like the US, Europe, the United Emirates or Saudi Arabia. Finally, he recognises that a Palestinian authority may take control, be it the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian leaders or other people who are not called Palestinians. All possibilities are open. He calls for doing whatever makes sense and that as long as Hamas is on the ground, nothing will work.
In a final conversation, the ambassador reveals that he is exchanging WhatsApp messages with the chancellor. He is also the only diplomat who has already spoken to Mr Stocker. Mr. Stocker had asked for a meeting to reassure him that the ties with Israel would continue. Mr Roet will soon meet with other ministers to discuss Gaza, as already reported to the Kronen Zeitung.
„I felt sickened by the calm in Mr. Roet’s voice as he made these statements.“ says the activist who took the video. „No one intervened when Mr. Roet suggested the death penalty for children“. The activist adds that „this makes me think how corrupted the issue is when people with the power to change something, suggest committing war crimes as a solution. To end the suffering, we must challenge the fascist psychopaths turning us against each other and profiting from imperialist deals. „
The video was recorded two days after Israel broke the ceasefire on 18 March and over 700 people had already been killed. Neither the ongoing anti-war protests in Israel, nor the arrest warrant from The Hague, nor the UN investigations into the genocide, nor the judgement on apartheid were mentioned.
We demand no Austrian support for apartheid, colonialism and occupation, which are outlawed under international law.
No government may continue to support the ongoing genocide.
We demand the cancellation of all Austrian cooperation with Israel.
